The boilers and the hazard
The recall, RA-82796, covers NTI-brand boilers in the FTVN and TFTN series and HTP-brand boilers in the EFTU series, all within specific serial-number ranges. According to the Health Canada recall notice, the defect poses a risk of serious injury or death from fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and impact hazards.
The affected boilers were sold in Canada from May 2021 to August 2025 and were manufactured in Canada. As of October 16, 2026, the company had received two incident reports and one injury report in Canada, one incident in the United States, and is aware of 34 occurrences of the condensate dish breaking in total.
The impact hazard is not abstract. The CPSC notice reports three cases of the front cover detaching, and in one incident the technician servicing the boiler sustained a broken jaw. That detail is the clearest argument against opening the cabinet or poking at a boiler that has shut itself down.
Why the company name is Ariston
If your boiler says NTI on the front and you have never heard of Ariston, you are dealing with the same company. Trade publication phcppros reported that NTI Boilers' legal name changed to Ariston Canada, and that the change was strictly legal, with the NTI brand unchanged. The manufacturer is listed as Ariston Canada Inc. (formerly NTI Boilers Inc.) of Saint John, New Brunswick. HTP is part of the same Ariston group.
