The product, the hazard and the Canadian numbers
The recall covers one model: the DREO DR-HSH015, a black ceramic heater with the DREO name on the front. According to the Health Canada recall notice, the affected heaters can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards. As of October 22, 2026, DREO had received one report of an incident in Canada and no reports of injury. Health Canada lists the heater as made in Vietnam, distributed by Hesung Innovation Corp (doing business as DREO) of Clifton, New Jersey, and imported by DREO Innovation Inc of Acton, Ontario.
The U.S. picture is more pointed. The CPSC recall notice counts 17 reports of the heaters igniting, three of which caused property damage and one of which caused a burn injury to the hand. Health Canada puts the U.S. figure at 16 incidents and one injury. The two notices do not explain the difference, and readers should not assume one. Either way, the pattern is the same: a heater that can catch fire during normal use.
Two more details separate the Canadian story from American coverage. First, Health Canada does not name Canadian retailers. The U.S. notice lists Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy and others, with U.S. prices of $70 to $110 (USD), but none of that describes where Canadians bought their units. Second, the sale windows differ. The Canadian notice says September 2025 to August 2026; the U.S. notice runs to October 2026. For a Canadian owner, the manufacture date on the label is what decides eligibility, not where or when you bought it.
